My little boy...

It has been a while since I have taken many pictures of my Ben. I think I have purposely chosen to not do so lately because, sometimes, I feel like I stick myself behind the camera trying to find the perfect picture, while somewhat missing a beautiful moment with my son and my family...

It was yesterday that a beautiful moment was made for me! I didn't have to "plan it" or even hint at it, it just happened naturally, which to me, are the BEST moments to capture on camera!

Jeff had gotten home early from work on Memorial day, and joined Ben and I in the backyard finishing up our gardening... We sure were busy all weekend, and we had the perfect weather for it! We weeded, planted pansies and petunias in pots, and started our vegetable garden for the summer. Tomatoes, mini pumpkins, cucumbers, lettuce, and carrot seeds were laid in expectation of the growth to come! Ben was my little helper, right by my side... walking around the yard with his little shovel in hand, ready to dig in the soil. It wasn't until I got the hose out to water our yeild that the "moment" happened...

I began feeding our thirsty vegetables with water, when Ben walked over and leaned into the stream. At first I wondered, "What in the world is he doing?" and then I realized it... he was mimicking our yellow lab, Chase (I often let Chase drink from the water hose). I laughed out loud and hollered to Jeff to come see, which only egged Ben on more! My little dude must have been real thirsty, because he continued to lap up water more and more.

Needless to say, I had to run inside and grab my camera to capture this surprising, unscripted moment! Pics are below...

My little baby turned two today and I can't think of a more perfect way to capture his joyful innocence than in these shots. He is always up to something, wanting to explore or figure things out on his own, running around in his blue crocs.

This is JUST Ben. Sipping from the water hose, not worrying about how wet his clothes are. Pure and simple, as life should be. Reminds me to get a little soaked sometimes too!

Figuring this thing out...

Right before he squirted himself in the face...

On a different note...
We went in for my 20 week ultrasound this morning. For Ben's birthday present, we told him he is getting a baby sister (come early Oct.)... We couldn't be more thrilled to be welcoming a baby girl soon!
Happy watering to all of you!
